We were in Spokane on a mini vacay when I learned about this blessing and I found out in the morning and didn't see Andrew all day because he was working and playing golf.
Even though the Grey's Anatomy finale had a memorable quote when Meredith told Christina that she was pregnant and was trying to figure out how to tell McDreamy...and Christina told her, "Why do you have to be creative? You found out squatting over a stick." So true. But. Alas, I had to think of a fun way.
So, Griff and I meandered through Spokane and decided to get a pink and blue onesie from the Gymboree sales rack that say "Brand New" on the front.
The "Big Brother" shirt didn't really fly with this one because we have known for 9 months that Griffin will be a big brother (his little bro or sis in Rwanda). So that wasnt' an option. And I thought this was more fun anyway.
So we got on our little puddle jumper to go home:
After we got on the plane I told A that I had to use the facilities so I went to the back of the plane. I asked the flight attendant if she would hand him the onesies when she was asking for everyone's drink orders and ask if he wanted a boy or girl.
She was so sweet and did a great job! He at first thought, "Wow, Alaska airlines is so nice, they are giving Griffin a gift." no...they are tiny and blue and pink. Then he thought, "Maybe Kat heard something about the adoption!"...then he knew that wasn't really a possibility right now...so THEN he looked at me with a look that said, "ARE YOU SERIOUS?!" He got it. It was cute.
Fun blog! I'm so so happy for you that your family is growing! You'll have that passenger van filled up in no time! Love you!
ReplyDeleteCaute! Yeah, when are you going to be getting that van? It will fill up fast.
ReplyDeleteOh and technically, why do you even have to tell Gladney about the pregnacy? I mean if you have to see them in person and you are 8 months along...then I can understand. But will they have to know before this baby is born? or better yet when the baby is 6 months old?
ReplyDeleteThanks y'all! I really didn't want to have to tell Gladney but we researched our options A LOT before going forward and we will have to update our Home Study (for a 2nd time! UGH) after the baby is born for the US government. The only thing affected with having another child is that in order to bring our child home from Rwanda legally we need approval from our government and they need to know about all family members or it could be messy.
ReplyDeleteOh, and the Social worker who does our Home Study updates has to communicate with Gladney when he does them. Trust me, I looked into every detail.
ReplyDeleteKatie, it's definitely crossed our mind more than a few times to not tell gladney but we want to be above reproach for the entire process. We want to be straight forward with them and work out the details as a team. They have obviously had this happen before and they've worked with the families to do what's best for the entire family. God has been refining us to trust Him through this process even when it felt like the walls were caving in on us. We have a long way to go, but we see where God seems to be guiding us.
ReplyDeleteKat, you are so gifted in putting our life down into words. I'll leave this stuff up to you, cool?? I'll take care of the yard and do bills.
I'm so glad our little peanut has a mom who is already in love with him/her so much to do this.
I love how you told A! How fun. I never got to do anything clever to tell Brian cuz he was always there when I peed on a stick.
